Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) on the ASUS EeePC (701)

So, it's about 6 months since last time I wrote an article on getting stock Kubuntu running on the eeePC 701, and guess what - there's a new release with new bugs and work arounds.

Kubuntu KDE4 on the Eee

Hardy Heron is here. I was waiting for this release since I was home at Easter a few weeks ago and got my Eee a RAM upgrade. I've now got 2GB in there and really no need for a swap partition any more, so I wanted to do a fresh install and decided to wait until I could install Kubuntu 8.04.

Ubuntu on the EeePC (Part 2)

After a week or so using Ubuntu on my EeePC, the only times that I had booted back to the original Xandros install were when I had forgotten to hit the ESC key during boot to select the SD card to boot instead of the internal SSD. I decided that it was time I got rid of the installed Xandros properly and just used Ubuntu from the internal SSD. Again the install went really smoothly, using the USB CD drive as before, I did however make a backup of the SSD image before I started.
