Papercraft Weighted Companion Cube Model

During a fairly dull lecture earlier this week I came up with the mad idea to create a cardboard model of the weighted companion cube from "Portal" a new game from Valve. The companion cube has become quite a cult thing so I'm guessing there may be more people out there that would like to have a little cardboard companion cube sitting on their desk!

An Autumnal walk

It is, in my experience, a fairly rare thing to find a day with nice weather in Bath, even more difficult then to find a day with nice weather when I have an afternoon free. So I took advantage of this afternoon to go for a walk around the Bath Skyline walk. Unfortunately I ended up somewhat closer to the city than I would have liked as this meant I had a fairly long walk to get back up to the top of one of the hills upon which I live.

A shiney new toy

I have just become the gleeful owner of a Canon EOS 400D digital camera. This stunning marriage of optical and electronics has already given rise to some pretty impressive pictures and will hopefully produce more during my up-coming visit to the north-west region of France.

Major re-write

You may notice looking at the site that it looks slightly different, actually it's totally different, it just happens that it appears to resemble the old site. Over the last 4 days I have written the entire site as you see it now from scratch, over 2000 lines of code. Plus migrating all the old content to the new database structure.

It's been quite a challenge to code this much stuff in just a few days. Admittedly I had the site layout pre-planned and the database structures developed and tested but I have never written so much PHP from scratch before.

Ah what blissful optimism!

I've just caught a glimpse of the end of the last article I wrote on Tuesday about being finished the mouse project, and how I had plenty of projects and revision to be getting on with so I wouldn't be sitting around bored just yet. Well, it's amazing how quickly you forget these things but over the last couple of days I've realised that is actually, by definition what I should be doing, as I think it can be absolutely proven that revising = sitting around getting bored.
